Fernando José Torres Sanz (born in Fuenlabrada, Comunidad de Madrid, Spain, March 20, 1984, Fernando Torres is a Spanish footballer who plays as a striker for Chelsea in the Premier League and the Spanish national team. He is nicknamed El Niño (The boy in Spanish).
Torres began his career with Atlético Madrid football academy until then penetrate the main squad team. He made his debut in the 2001-02 season. He scored 7 goals from 40 appearances in two seasons Segunda División. During play for Atlético, Torres managed 75 goals in 174 appearances in La Liga. Torres joined the English Premier League side Liverpool in 2007 by breaking the club transfer record. In his first season with Liverpool, he made history after successfully scored more than 20 league goals, a record that did survive since Robbie Fowler in the 1995-96 season. Liverpool's Torres became the fastest player in club history to score 50 league goals after scoring against Aston Villa in December 2009.
